A "Pokémon Legends" event for Pokémon GO? It's been officially announced—and here's everything we know about it so far.

📅 Event period & occasion

At the start of Pokémon Legends: ZA Pokémon GO is hosting a companion event:

  • Start: Thursday, 16 October 2025, at 10:00 local time

  • End: Monday, 20 October 2025, at 20:00 local time

  • Occasion: Celebration of the release of Pokémon Legends: ZA on Nintendo Switch & Switch 2

More frequent mega raids

During the event Mega Raids much more frequently – ideal for collecting Mega Energy or refreshing your Mega Pokémon. 

Timed Research with starter Pokemon

A special one TimedResearch brings you tasks with encounters from Endive (Chikorita), Totodile or Floink (Tepig) – each with special background.

You can choose which starter Pokémon you prefer – and this one is more likely to be chosen by your Daily Adventure Incense dressed. 

Exclusive attacks for developments

If you perform certain evolutions during the event, they will learn special Charged Moves:

  • From Bayleef becomes a Meganiumthe Frenzy plant knows

  • From Croconaw shall Feraligatr with Hydro cannon 

  • From pignite shall Embark with Blast burn
    You can also use these moves via a ChargedTM if you already have the Pokémon. 

New avatar items

The in-game shop will offer new, freely available clothing items for the event, inspired by Lumiose City from Kalos:

  • Outfits, hats and shoes in different designs and colors 

🔥 Topic section: The Return of the Mega Pokémon

The event also marks the official return of Mega Evolution in Pokémon GO – inspired by Pokémon Legends: ZA!

🧩 Confirmed Mega Pokémon during the event

  • Mega despotary – strong offense and ideal raid option

  • Mega Charizard X/Y – makes a comeback with a boost for fire teams

  • Mega Hawlucha – available for the first time in Pokémon GO

  • Mega Bulbasaur, Mega Blastoise, Mega Sceptile – return for a short time in Mega Raids

💡 Tip: Mega Pokémon increase the bonus yield for Pokémon of the same type in the area—perfect for collecting Candy and EXP during the event!

???? Timed Research & Special Tasks

Trainers can choose between three paths:

  1. endive-Path: Focus on Grass Pokémon and Stardust Rewards

  2. Carnimani-Path: Focus on Water Pokémon and Mega Energy

  3. Floink-Path: Focus on Fire Pokémon and evolution items

Complete all tasks to receive additional encounters with the starter Pokémon and their evolutions.

  • Double candies when catching and evolving Pokémon

  • Special attacks only available during the event

  • Farming Mega Energyto unlock future Mega Evolutions

  • Avatar outfits available for free in the in-game shop

📌 Tips for coaches

  • Prepare your Mega Pokémon – Collecting mega energy is worth it!

  • Choose wisely: The starter Pokémon you choose for Timed Research will be more likely to become your buddy and be boosted by Incense.

  • Use Charged TM: If you already have strong versions of Bayleef, Croconaw, or Pignite, you can give them the special moves with TMs.

  • Check shop: Get the new Lumiose avatar items early while they are available in the shop.

The Pokémon Legends: ZA Celebration Event brings a breath of fresh air to Pokémon GO and connects the new Legendary generation directly to your GO experience. Fans who play both the main game and Pokémon GO should especially mark this event on their calendars.
