Aerodactyl cannot evolve in the traditional way. However, since the sixth generation of the game, it has been able to Mega Evolve into Mega Aerodactyl when equipped with the Aerodactylonite item.
Although its general physique remains largely the same upon mega-evolution, it now develops sharp and massive stone spines that grow from its body. It uses these spikes for particularly brutal attacks and strengthens its already aggressive attack tactics.
