The black Venom is certainly one of Spider-Man's most iconic opponents. In the comics, this is the journalist Eddie Brock, who was fired for working with improper means. He blames Spider-Man for this.
His revenge is fueled by Venom, an extraterrestrial being that enters into a symbiosis with its host and gives it beast-like powers. The symbiote senses Eddie Brock's hatred and intensifies it. In the comics, Brock / Venom succeeds in transforming himself from Spider-Man's opponent into a popular anti-hero.
